It’s time for The Cat in the Hat to make a reappearance in this fun, family-friendly show.

OCPAC is beyond thrilled to bring SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL to life in 27th September - 5th October 2024.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge - not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Seussical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) Australasia.
All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI Australasia: https://www.mtishows.com.au

Seussical will play for a limited season at the Ian Woolf Auditorium - Carey Baptist Grammar (Kew Campus)

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the land on which we perform. We pay our respects to the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung peoples, who are the custodians of the lands. We recognise their deep and ongoing connection to this land and their rich culture. We are grateful for the opportunity to create and share our art on this beautiful and culturally significant land.

Director’s Vision

The Director’s Vision for this show at its core, is a celebration of creativity in its purest form. It is about harnessing the power of imagination and breaking free from the constraints of societal norms. Every role is an opportunity for self-expression, and every actor brings a unique voice to the stage.

The essence of our show lies not in conforming to traditional notions of gender or preconceived ideas of appearance, but in celebrating the boundless possibilities of expression and talent. I urge you to bring yourself to the characters and don’t be held down by the way you’ve seen it played or cast previously.
Let’s have fun and play - “Oh the Thinks you can Think” after all.
